Creating textiles with fibers is my passion. I started weaving as a child with a small frame loom, making potholders with nylon loops. In 1985 I purchased my first loom from a neighbor. Since then I have taken classes and workshops whenever possible. When I begin a project I think about what I’ll make with the cloth I plan to weave. However, very often the yarn or fiber will tell me what type of garment it should be. The warp threads are the long threads on the loom, and the weft are the threads that cross the warp. Each piece can take up to 40 hours to complete. I won First place, Best of Show and a Silver Medallion for the “Garment and Home Accessories” contest in the 1999 16th Annual Taos Wool Festival. I have won many blue ribbons since then.
